Once a young child has outgrown their crib or toddler bed, the next logical step up would be a children’s bed, which have come quite a long way since the days of the standard single sized bed. With features such as guardrails and being positioned closer to the floor, children’s beds offer a bit of extra protection for little ones who are within the four to six, or older, age range.

Novelty children’s beds are currently all the rage as a wide variety of characters and fun shapes are used to make bedtime a lot more fun, and also spice up any type of room’s décor. Beds geared towards boys, girls, or both can be found in a dizzying array of colours and some of the best known children’s cartoons and characters.

For little boys, children’s beds in the shape of fire engines, racing cars, wagons and trains are rather popular as well as any number of whimsical animal shapes. Any little girl would be equally delighted with a princess or castle bed, or one in the shape of a butterfly or teddy bear, and there are also pink and purple coloured cars geared toward girls.

Some children’s beds are based on specific themes, such as underwater adventures with bed frames in the shape of whales and fish, either for boys and girls, and all different types of sports themed designs as well. The three foot single Captain’s Bed by Sweet Dreams Beds is fun as well as functional as it features three drawers for storage and is made from durable rubberwood and is made to last. Many other beds designed for children also feature storage drawers under the bed, making use of valuable space that would otherwise be wasted.

Safety should be a top priority in addition to the theme or style when it comes to choosing children’s beds. The youngest of children will usually still need side or guardrails until they’re able to make the adjustment to sleeping in a bigger bed. Some come with removable rails enabling parents to take them off as the child grows older.

Some children also have difficulty sleeping or staying in their own rooms or beds throughout the entire night and often experience anxiety. Children’s beds are ideal for parents who are having trouble getting their little ones down and settled for a good night’s sleep. With any number of exciting adventurous dreams awaiting it won’t be necessary to encourage anyone to stick to their bedtime with a fun children’s bed.
